Car Insurance Volkswagen (Car Insurance). Which is better on gas Holley 500 2 barrel or 4 barrel quadrajet?Which is better on gas Holley 500 2 barrel or 4 barrel quadrajet? I have a 77 monte carlo with a 350 over .30 aluminum intake headers and dual exhaust. Which carb is better to run. Right now I have the holley on there and someone offered me a quadrajet. The Quadrajet will give you better mileage until you put your foot into it enough to open up the secondary air valves. The primary valves are smaller than on the 2 barrel Holley so you will save gas. With the motor you're running, if driven conservatively, it's probably only going to get around 15 mpg at best, regardless of carb choice. I think the difference would be minimal. Depending on what the car came with, the modification cost would most likely outweigh the fuel savings. The two barrel may be a little better if you don't mind driving a dog. The Quadrajet might actually get better mileage because the primaries are smaller, IF it's gently driven. The secondaries only open at fairly large throttle. In practical terms they will probably be pretty close. The Q-Jet will be better with smaller primaries than the Holley but will use more fuel if you jump on it and open the secondaries. Rig up a manual choke cable to block secondaries shut for better economy for the street ...or block them by other means...and then unblock the secondaries for racing. A system where you can control it while driving would be optimal....or put a heavier return spring on the carb throttle so you have to really stand on it to open up the secondaries. In the UK when you buy a car all you have to do is insure and register it in your name (and tax it if it isn't already!) I was just wondering how it works in the US, I've heard about tags on cars but I don't know what it means, also that US drivers have to carry their license and registration. Obviously I know what a license is but is the registration proof that the driver of the car owns it, or that the car's taxed or something else? Volkswagen . How to Make New Car Seat CoversA car can become a special place when it feels like home. Many people personalize their cars with stickers, floor mats or steering wheel covers. If you want to personalize your car while protecting its original seats you may want to use seat covers. If you prefer to make your own seat cover, you can do so using fabric and a sewing machine. Making your own seat cover may allow you to use unique fabric patterns and will give your car an extra personal feel. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Measuring tape Fabric Sewing machine Thread Step by Step : 1 Measure your car seat. Write down the dimensions for height and width for both the top and bottom section of the seat as well as the total height. If the seat is very complicated you may want to cut out long strips of paper to stuff into corners and crevices to act as stuffing to make the seat covering easier to make. 2 Make a pattern based on your measurements. You may want to make one large piece of fabric or you may want to make separate pieces of fabric for the top and bottom parts of the seat and sew them together. 3 Cut fabric according to your pattern. Add at least two inches on each side for sewing. 4Sewing machines make this task easier but you can also sew by hand.sewing machine image by Peter Baxter from Fotolia.com Sew the material together inside out so that seams appear on the inside. 5 Turn material over and place on your car seat. Depending on your model of car, you may need to cut holes for seat belts. Tips & Warnings Try adding a bungee cord or extra strap at the bottom of the seat to make the covering more secure.
Volkswagen . How Make Your Own Rear Car Bench Seat CoversMaking seat covers on your own for the rear seats of the car can give them a personalized look as well as extend the life of the rear seat. Preparing the seat covers starts with selection of a heavy-duty material such as leather or vinyl that can withstand regular deterioration. The material chosen must also go with the interior color of your car to enhance its overall look. Seat covers can help customize the interior or cover a damaged seat. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Measuring tape Scissors Heavy-duty fabric Pins Sewing machine Step by Step : 1 Measure the dimensions of the rear seat with your measuring tape. Include the depth, width and length of the seat. 2 Sketch the seat dimensions on a large piece of paper to create the seat cover pattern. Mark the size and location of seat belts. Add an extra 2 inches on all sides of the pattern to allow for the hems and seams of the seat covers. Cut the pattern pieces out with scissors. 3 Purchase a fabric to make the rear seat covers; cloth will allow for easy sewing, but leather or vinyl will last longer. Take the rest of the interior into account when selecting the color and texture of the fabric. You can also create patterns by combining various colors. 4 Spread the fabric out on a large flat surface. Lay the paper pattern pieces onto the fabric, and pin in place. 5 Cut the pieces from the fabric as required by your pattern. 6 Turn over the material of the car seat so the outside portions of the fabric touch. Join the pieces of the fabric using straight pins; pin the fabric strongly enough to hold it in place while sewing. 7 Stitch the pieces with the sewing machine on a slow setting, keeping a firm grip on the seating fabric while sewing it. 8 Create holes for the seat belts in the spots indicated on the paper pattern. Carefully hem the openings for the seat belt. Hem the whole seat cover to give it a professional look. If possible, use a machine blanket stitch or a zigzag stitch for hemming. Otherwise, use a machine straight stitch and turn the edges under. Tips & Warnings Place the paper pattern on the seat to judge accuracy. After cutting the fabric, pin it or baste stitch the pieces together, then lay it on the rear seat to determine any size or shape alterations you need to make before sewing. Avoid using light-colored material on a seat, which will show dirt much faster than a darker color. *Anatomy of a tire. If you have an antique or classic vehicle that requires old-style tires, you can find companies that manufacture reproductions of the original tires for your vehicle's make, model, and year. Radial tires have become the standard because they provide better handling, especially at high speeds; they tend to grip the road more efficiently, especially when cornering; and they can deliver twice the mileage that bias-ply and belted tires did. Radial tires run cooler because they have less internal friction. (Bias and bias-belted tires had overlapping cords that translated into more internal friction and more heat when in motion.) Wear varies from 25,000 miles and up, depending on the belt material used. Top-of-the-line steel-belted radials can last from 40,000 to as many as 100,000 miles under average conditions. To decide what type of tire is right for your vehicle, see "Tips for Buying Tires," later in this chapter. The Secrets on \lour Sidertalts, Repeated! Even if you're not the inquisitive type, the data in the following sections can help you when you buy and maintain tires. Tire size codes Until around 1978, tire sizes were indicated by alpha-numeric codes, such as D78-14. Then, with the adoption of the metric system, the codes changed drastically. Today, the new codes are much longer and provide more information. Tire dealers are required by law to have leaflets available that explain tire grades and ratings. The leaflets also tell you which metric codes replace the old alphanumeric designations. For example, here's the information provided by a common "P-metric" tire code, P205/75R-14: P = Type of vehicle. (In this case, P = Passenger. Other codes include LT for Light Truck and T for Temporary or spare tire.) 205 = Tire section width, measured across the tread, from one sidewall to the other, in millimeters. (In this case, the tire width is 205.) Volkswagen . How do you you remove thr rear drums on 2005 accent?
remove rear wheel, safely block-up car with jack stands, spray penetrating fluid where drum sits on wheel flange and on wheel... Porsche 968. * 75 = Aspect ratio or tire series — the ratio of the tire's sidewall height to its width. (In this case, the tire's sidewall height is 75 percent of its width.) Tires with a low series (less than 70) are referred to as low-profile tires and have a short sidewall. R = Tire type. (R = radial, B = bias-belted, D = diagonal or bias-ply, and E = elliptic. In this case, the tire is a radial.) 14 = Diameter of the wheel, measured in inches. (In this case, the diame ter is 14 inches.) Codes may differ slightly from one tire to another. In addition to the P-metric code, there are also European metric codes, which can be as simple as 155SR13 or as complex as 185/70R14 88S, but the data they disclose is pretty much the same. The speed rating represents the safest maximum speed for the tire. It tells you nothing about a tire's construction, handling, or wearability, but measures the tire's ability to endure the high temperatures that high speeds create. Here's a list of what the speed rating letters mean: .Chapter 19: Checking Your Tires, Alignment, and Steering AQ1 f F = 50 mph O G = 56 mph W J = 62 mph Volkswagen .
